Boutique hotels in Lake Manyara

Lake Manyara lies at the foot of the Great Rift Valley escarpment, a shallow soda lake bordered by groundwater forest, acacia woodland and floodplain. The park is small, which makes it easy to see tree-climbing lions in the right season, along with elephants, baboons and flocks of flamingos.

Where to stay

The best lodges sit on the escarpment above the park, with views over the lake, or in the forest at the base. Treehouse-style suites on stilts are a local specialty.

Good to know

Manyara is often paired with Tarangire and Ngorongoro, since all three are within a few hours of each other. Flamingo numbers on the lake vary from year to year with the water level.
