The Oyster Bay and Msasani peninsula neighborhoods hold the best boutique hotels, close to restaurants and the coast. Traffic is heavy, so staying near where you plan to eat and shop saves hours.

The city is hot and humid all year, and ferries to Zanzibar leave from the center. Allow plenty of time for airport and ferry transfers.
