About MyTravelDest

MyTravelDest is an independent guide to boutique hotels around the world. It lists 1,633 destinations in 167 countries, ranks them country by country, and names the boutique hotels worth knowing in each one.

What counts as boutique

We look for small, independent or design-led hotels with character: palazzi, riads, ryokans, farmhouses, island hideaways, safari camps, eco-lodges, townhouse and design hotels. Small luxury brands are welcome. Big chain hotels and resorts with hundreds of rooms are left out.

How we work

Every hotel on the site is a real, named property that we found in a source we checked, such as the hotel's own website, a published guide or a booking listing. We never invent a hotel, a room count or a price. Room counts, nightly rates and other facts appear only when a source states them, and a rate is shown as the lowest published price for a double room, with the month it was checked. Prices change with the season, so always confirm on the hotel's own site before you plan around one.

Photos

Destination photos come from Wikimedia Commons and carry free licences. The photographer and licence are shown on each photo. We would rather show a dark panel than a photo that does not belong to the place, so some destinations have none yet.

Independence

Hotels cannot pay to be listed or to rank higher, and nothing on the site is sponsored. MyTravelDest does not take bookings: each hotel links to its own website.

Mistakes and changes

Hotels close, change owners and change their prices, and we will sometimes be wrong. If you spot something, please tell us on the contact page and we will check it and correct it.
