Tetouan
A traditional medina riad with restored suites and a rooftop for sunsets over the old city.
Tetouan was rebuilt in the 15th century by Muslims and Jews expelled from Andalusia, and its whitewashed medina is one of the best-preserved in Morocco and a UNESCO World Heritage site. The Spanish colonial Ensanche, with its wide streets and wedding-cake facades, adjoins it. The city is also known for its arts and crafts school and its Andalusian music, and the beaches of Martil and M'diq are close by.
A few restored riads in the medina make the most of the old city's architecture.
Tetouan is about an hour from Tangier and a natural stop on the way to Chefchaouen.
