Boutique hotels in Paje (Zanzibar)

Paje is on the southeast coast of Zanzibar, where the tide pulls far out across a bright turquoise lagoon and steady winds make it one of East Africa's best kitesurfing spots. Between the wind and the tides, the village has a relaxed, outdoorsy feel.

Where to stay

Hotels here are mostly small, informal and beachfront, with a few boutique-style properties along the Pingwe and Paje coast. Many come with kite schools or yoga studios.

Good to know

Low tide exposes the seabed in front of the beach, so plan swims accordingly. The best kiting winds are from June to September and in January and February.
