Boutique hotels in Ourika Valley

Less than an hour from Marrakech, the Ourika Valley follows a river into the mountains past red-earth Berber villages, saffron farms and terraced gardens. At its head, Setti Fatma is the start of walks to a series of waterfalls. On weekends the valley fills with Marrakchis escaping the heat; midweek it is quiet.

The best places are hilltop kasbahs and country lodges with gardens and pools, combining Atlas views with easy access to the city.

The river can flood after heavy storms, especially in summer. Spring, when the orchards are in blossom, is especially beautiful.
