Created in 1991 on former farmland near the Botswana border, Madikwe Game Reserve is one of South Africa's largest and was restocked in one of the world's biggest wildlife relocation programs. Today it has the Big Five, cheetahs and a healthy population of endangered African wild dogs. It is a mix of bushveld, open plains and rocky hills, and lodge access is limited, so drives are rarely crowded.
