Koh Yao Noi
An adults-only hideaway of raised villas among the trees.
Koh Yao Noi sits in the middle of Phang Nga Bay, between Phuket and Krabi, and feels a world away from both. Its villages, rice paddies and rubber plantations are traditional and peaceful, and its east coast looks across the water to dozens of sheer limestone islands.
The island has a handful of exceptional small resorts, most on the east coast with views of the bay. Scooters and bicycles are the best way to get around.
Speedboats take about 30 minutes from Phuket. The island is conservative, so dress modestly in the villages. The best weather is from November to April.
