Lombok is less developed than Bali, with a strong Sasak culture, the towering volcano of Mount Rinjani and a southern coastline of horseshoe bays and surf breaks around Kuta. The north coast, facing the Gili Islands, is calmer and greener, with views across to Bali's Mount Agung.
Where to stay
