Boutique hotels in Seychelles
The Seychelles offers granite-boulder beaches, family-run guesthouses and a handful of private islands with just a few villas.
The Seychelles is an archipelago of more than 100 islands in the Indian Ocean, famous for its smooth granite boulders, white-sand coves and clear water. Mahé, Praslin and La Digue hold most of the guesthouses and small hotels, while private islands farther out offer the ultimate in seclusion.
The main islands
Mahé is the largest island and the gateway, with the capital Victoria and a ring of beaches, including lively Beau Vallon. Praslin, a short ferry ride away, has the Vallée de Mai forest and the beach at Anse Lazio. La Digue is the slowest of the three, where bicycles and ox-carts outnumber cars.
Guesthouses and boutique stays
The most authentic way to stay is in a family-run guesthouse, often with a small restaurant. A growing number of small design hotels and villas are scattered along the coasts.
Private islands
Islands such as North, Fregate and Denis take only a few guests at a time and are reached by helicopter, small plane or boat. Prices are high, and the focus is on conservation as well as comfort.
When to go
April, May and October to November are the calmest months. December to February has more rain and the northwest trade winds, while June to September brings drier but windier weather.
