Boutique hotels in Senegal

Senegal offers colonial houses in Saint-Louis, eco-lodges in the Saloum Delta and a few small beach hotels along the Petite Côte.

2 boutique hotels handpicked

Senegal is West Africa's most welcoming and stable gateway, with a vibrant capital, a UNESCO-listed colonial island and a long Atlantic coast. Its best small hotels are restored colonial houses, family-run guesthouses and eco-lodges tucked into mangroves and dunes.

Dakar and the coast

Dakar is a lively city of music, markets and street art, perched on the Cap-Vert peninsula. Nearby, Gorée Island, a car-free former slave-trading post, is a short ferry ride away. Along the Petite Côte, Saly, Somone, Toubab Dialaw and Popenguine have beaches, fishing villages and a mix of resorts and guesthouses.

Saint-Louis and the north

Saint-Louis, the old colonial capital, has wooden balconies, wrought-iron railings and a jazz festival each spring. To the south, the Lompoul Desert is a small stretch of dunes with tented camps.

Delta and Casamance

The Sine-Saloum Delta is a maze of mangroves and islands, best seen by pirogue from small lodges. Cap Skirring, in the Casamance, has long palm-backed beaches and a laid-back atmosphere.

When to go

November to May is the dry, sunny season and the most comfortable. The rainy season, from June to October, is hot and humid.
