Megève
From €686/ night
A hamlet of old farm chalets rebuilt into a cozy hotel with a renowned spa.
Megève was developed as a ski resort in the 1920s by the Rothschild family as a French answer to St. Moritz. Its village center keeps its medieval church and cobbled square, and its slopes are wide, gentle and ideal for cruising, with views of Mont Blanc. It is as much about lunch and après-ski as skiing, and in summer it is a fine base for hiking and golf.
The village center has chalet hotels within walking distance of shops and restaurants, while Mont d'Arbois and the slopes offer ski-in hotels and more seclusion.
Megève is about an hour from Geneva. Snow at village level can be variable, but the higher slopes and linked areas are reliable in midwinter. Many hotels close between seasons.
