Charlevoix
A modern hotel in Baie-Saint-Paul inspired by old farm buildings, with a spa and its own small farm.
Charlevoix stretches along the north shore of the St. Lawrence River, where the land drops steeply to the water from the forested hills of an ancient meteor crater. It has long attracted painters, and its villages, such as Baie-Saint-Paul, are full of galleries. The region is also known for its gourmet food trail of cheese makers, farms and cideries, and for whale watching from Tadoussac.
Baie-Saint-Paul is the cultural center, with galleries and restaurants. La Malbaie is home to the grand Manoir Richelieu, and small auberges are spread along the coast and in the hills.
Summer and autumn are the main seasons, with spectacular fall colors in late September. Whales are seen from June to October. The scenic train from Quebec City follows the river.
