Where to stay in Morrocoy

Morrocoy National Park is a coastal park of mangrove lagoons, coral reef and low cays with pale sand, off the Falcón coast west of Caracas. Boats from Tucacas and Chichiriviche take visitors to the islands, where families set up on the beaches for the day with food and umbrellas. Snorkeling is good in the clear shallow water.

Where to stay

Posadas are in the two gateway towns. Posada Las Cañas, on the main beaches and cays of the park, has a pool, jacuzzi, restaurant and sauna, and lists packages from $60 to $110 per person per night depending on meals and boat transfer. Posada Los Cocos Morrocoy is a popular choice, and Islas del Sol Morrocoy Resort is a simple resort in Chichiriviche, listed as two or three stars.

Good to know

The best area to stay in Chichiriviche is along the waterfront near the main pier. Weekends and holidays are crowded. The park has been affected by pollution and coral loss in past years, so ask your host about current conditions. Check official travel advice before going.
