Posada Pittier

Choroní · 9 rooms

A nine-room posada founded in 1993, with a garden pool and jacuzzi on the main avenue facing the river.

Choroní is a small colonial town on Venezuela's central coast, reached by a winding road over the cloud forest of Henri Pittier National Park, the country's oldest. Its neighbor, Puerto Colombia, is the fishing village on the beach, with brightly painted houses, a plaza and palm-lined sand. The cacao haciendas of the area produce some of the country's best chocolate.

Where to stay

The accommodation is posadas rather than boutique hotels, although the sources do not describe either as boutique. Posada Pittier, founded in 1993, has nine rooms, breakfast, a garden with a pool and jacuzzi, and sits on the main avenue facing the river. Bequeve is a posada against the national park with two pools, a good bar and clean, spacious rooms.

Good to know

Most accommodation is in Puerto Colombia, near the beach. The road from Maracay is winding, so allow extra time. Weekends and holidays are crowded and weekdays are calm. Check current travel advice and the condition of the road before going.
