The old town is compact and entirely walkable. A few small hotels occupy restored townhouses and bastion buildings near the harbor and the old city walls.

Zadar is a base for the Kornati islands, Paklenica National Park and the Krka waterfalls. Ferries leave for Ugljan and Pašman, and Ryanair flights make it easy to reach.
