The north Norfolk coast is flat, huge-skied and thick with birdlife. Its villages of flint and brick hold gastro-inns and small coastal hotels, often with kitchens that make the most of local crab, samphire and Brancaster mussels.
Titchwell and Brancaster face wide beaches and marshes, Burnham Market is a pretty village with independent shops, and Cley and Blakeney sit among reed beds and seal trips.
Summer is busy and car parks fill early, so spring and autumn offer the best light and the biggest bird migrations. There is little public transport, so a car is useful.
