Kimbe Bay
A dive resort on Kimbe Bay with about 20 rooms, including twelve beachfront bungalows, and the home port of the liveaboard MV FeBrina.
Kimbe Bay in West New Britain holds some of the most diverse coral in the world, with the resort's operators citing more than 400 hard coral species and over 900 fish species. Reefs rise from deep water as seamounts and walls, and the bay is overlooked by volcanoes. It is a place where divers see hammerhead and silvertip sharks, barracuda, tuna and turtles, along with small macro life.
Walindi Plantation Resort is the base, with about 20 rooms made up of twelve beachfront bungalows and smaller Plantation House rooms with garden views, and an on-site dive center. Its operators claim more than 40 moored reefs and visibility of 80 to 150 feet, and it is the home port of the liveaboard MV FeBrina. The resort was run for decades by Max and Cecilie Benjamin.
The resort is about an hour by car from Hoskins Airport, with a listed transfer fee of PGK 180 per person return. Diving is said to be good in every month. These figures are the operators' own claims, so confirm current rates.
