Boutique hotels in Luxembourg

Luxembourg is a small grand duchy of fortress-capital views, Ardennes castles and Moselle vineyards, with intimate hotels in historic houses.

25 boutique hotels handpicked

Luxembourg is one of Europe's smallest countries, yet it holds a UNESCO-listed capital on dramatic cliffs, a landscape of castles and wooded valleys, and a wine region on the Moselle. Everything is within an hour's drive, so a single base can serve for days of exploring.

Luxembourg City

The old town and fortifications, built over the gorges of the Alzette and Pétrusse rivers, are a UNESCO World Heritage site. Small hotels sit in restored townhouses near the Place d'Armes and in the quieter valley of the Grund, and Kirchberg has newer design addresses.

The Ardennes and the north

Vianden, with its hilltop castle, and Clervaux, with its castle and abbey, lie in the green hills of the Ösling. Wiltz and Esch-sur-Sûre, on the river Sûre, are small, quiet towns surrounded by forest. Castle hotels and country inns are the specialty here.

The east: Echternach, Mullerthal and the Moselle

Echternach is the country's oldest town, and the Mullerthal, known as Little Switzerland, is a land of sandstone gorges and hiking trails. Remich and the Moselle valley offer riverside wine villages and cellars.

When to go

May to October is the best season for walking and wine, and the Christmas markets in December are charming. The country is well served by trains and buses, which are free for everyone on public transport.
