Boutique hotels in Hofsós

Hofsós is a small village on the Skagafjörður fjord in north Iceland, with a handful of old timber houses, an emigration museum and a swimming pool whose edge appears to merge with the sea. Horse country stretches inland, and Drangey island rises out of the fjord.

Where to stay

Our search found no boutique hotel in the village itself. Deplar Farm, a luxury retreat on the Troll Peninsula in the same region, offers fishing and heli-skiing. Local guesthouses serve everyone else.

Good to know

The pool is open to visitors year round. Skagafjörður is the center of Icelandic horse breeding, and farms offer riding tours. The area is quiet in summer and very quiet in winter, with open sky for the northern lights.
