Boutique hotels in Borgarnes

Borgarnes sits on a peninsula in Borgarfjörður, an hour north of Reykjavík, a town known for the Settlement Center museum, Egils Saga and its waterside setting. It makes a natural pause on the way to Snæfellsnes or the western highlands.

Choices in town are modest and mostly practical. Hotel Hamar has the highest guest rating of the town's lodgings. Stykkishólmur, farther west, has the nearest true boutique choice. The countryside around has farm stays, and Hótel Búðir on Snæfellsnes is within a day's drive.

Good to know

Stop at the Hraunfossar waterfalls and Deildartunguhver hot spring, Europe's most powerful, both close by. The Krauma geothermal baths are a lovely end to a day. The region is a good first night after landing in Keflavík.
