Sifnos
A sister hotel to Verina Astra, steps from Platis Gialos beach.
Sifnos is known across Greece for its food, from chickpea stew baked overnight in clay pots to fresh mastelo cheese, and for its potters. Its interior is a network of white villages, chapels and walking paths, with Kastro, a medieval village on a cliff above the sea, the most dramatic. Beaches such as Platis Gialos, Vathi and Faros are sheltered and calm.
Apollonia and Artemonas, the joined hilltop villages, are lively in the evening. Platis Gialos and Vathi suit beach stays, and Faros is small and quiet.
Sifnos is about three hours from Piraeus by fast ferry. The walking trails are excellent in spring and autumn. The best rooms book up quickly for summer.
