Milos is famous for its extraordinary coastline: the white volcanic rocks of Sarakiniko, the sea caves of Kleftiko and more than seventy beaches in every color. The island's fishing villages, such as Klima and Mandrakia, have syrmata, boathouses painted in bright colors at the water's edge. Plaka, the hilltop capital, is the place for sunset.

Where to stay

Pollonia, a fishing village in the northeast, is the most popular base, with good tavernas and a ferry to Kimolos. Adamas is the port, and Plaka offers village life and views.
