Folegandros has stayed simpler than its famous neighbors. Its Chora, perched on the edge of a cliff high above the sea, is one of the most beautiful villages in the Cyclades, with linked squares shaded by trees and lined with tavernas. A zigzag path leads up to the Panagia church on the ridge, and the island's beaches are reached by hiking trails or small boats.
