Gökçeada
A highly rated island retreat with traditional charm.
Gökçeada, known in Greek as Imbros, lies at the mouth of the Dardanelles. Its hill villages, such as Zeytinliköy and Tepeköy, keep their Greek stone houses, churches and tavernas, while the coast has long sandy beaches and one of Turkey's best windsurfing and kitesurfing spots at Aydıncık.
The old villages offer character, and the harbor of Kaleköy has small hotels by the sea.
Ferries run from Kabatepe on the Gallipoli peninsula. The island is quiet and green outside high summer.
