Assos · 6 rooms
A small hotel in Behramkale with Ottoman-style rooms and a garden of chili peppers.
Assos, near the village of Behramkale, was founded by Greek settlers and is crowned by a Temple of Athena with sweeping views over the Gulf of Edremit to Lesbos. Aristotle lived here for a time. Below, a small harbor of stone hotels and fish restaurants sits at the foot of the cliffs.
The stone hotels at the harbor are atmospheric; Behramkale village above is quieter and has old houses converted into small inns.
The road to the harbor is steep and winding. The Kazdağları mountains inland are lovely for walking.
