Lavaux
A hilltop hotel above Vevey with views over Lake Geneva and the Alps.
The Lavaux wine region stretches between Lausanne and Montreux, with terraced vineyards that were first cultivated by monks in the Middle Ages. Stone villages such as Cully, Lutry and Chexbres hold wine cellars and small restaurants.
Hotels are scattered through the villages, with Vevey and Montreux the main bases for larger hotels. Chexbres and Puidoux have views across the vines to the water.
The Lavaux Express train and the walking paths among the vines make it easy to explore without a car. Harvest comes in late September and October.
