Yala National Park has one of the world's highest densities of leopards, as well as elephants, sloth bears and crocodiles. The best stays are tented camps and small lodges on the park's edge, with game drives arranged by the camp.

Choose a lodge with its own guides and trackers. Some camps sit right at the boundary, with elephants passing at night.

Good to know

The dry season from February to July is best for wildlife. The park closes for a period each year, usually in September and October.
