Boutique hotels in Bahamas

The Bahamas' small hotels sit on pink-sand beaches, quiet cays and out-island coves, from Harbour Island to the Exumas.

9 boutique hotels handpicked

The Bahamas are an archipelago of 700 islands, and its best boutique hotels are on the smaller ones, where a few cottages sit on a long beach and there is little else to distract. Pastel-painted settlements, Loyalist-era architecture and some of the clearest water in the Atlantic define the islands.

Out-island classics

Harbour Island, off Eleuthera, is the best known, with its pink-sand beach and Dunmore Town's colonial houses. Eleuthera, Exuma, Abaco and Cat Island are quieter, with long beaches, swimming pigs on the Exumas and diving at Andros and Bimini.

Nassau and Grand Bahama

Nassau and Paradise Island are the main gateway, with large resorts and a few small historic hotels. Grand Bahama and the Berry Islands are more laid-back.

When to go

The dry season runs from December to April. Summer is hot and humid, with the hurricane season from June to November. Many small hotels close in September and October.
